Aspen’s Newest Sister City


San Carlos de Bariloche is located on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi and on the edge of Nahuel Huapi National Park. This city of nearly 100,000 inhabitants was founded in 1902 as an agricultural center for the mountainous Patagonia region. The city is now almost entirely dedicated to the tourism industry claiming the most developed ski area in Latin America, Cerro Cathedral, internationally renowned fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, water sports, and unparalleled scenery.

Bariloche is home to the Bariloche Nuclear Center, a research facility, and Bariloche Musical Camping Association. Bariloche is now one of Argentina’s most popular tourist destinations attracting tourists from all over the world, but especially for Brazil, Chile, and Europe.
